We Have Grass

They just got finished spraying the front and side yard for grass. I can't wait for it to come in. Preston can't wait to mow it either. Once this gets established we can complete the back and garage side. YEA!! Maybe we can cut down on the dust situation. ;)

Some Pics

This is going to be a busy week! As you can see from my countdown ticker, Sunday Preston and I leave for Las Vegas!! I am soooo excited. Preston and I have NEVER taken a vacation without kids. We never even had a honeymoon, unless you count driving to San Antonio for the weekend as one. So this weekend is it. Will's birthday and party are Saturday, we have dinner with friends Saturday night and then fly out Sunday morning. Needless to say, I have a lot to get busy doing. Oh well, it will be worth it.

Here are some pics of the kids. Actually just Will and Lauren. Jacob still doesn't like for me to take his pictures (reminds me of someone). The ones you do see of him are when he completely doesn't expect it.

Jacob did ask me to put in the last picture of him and his friends riding dirtbikes. He is on the green bike. Naturally you can't really see any part of him.

A Night with Old Friends

Last night we had some friends come over for dinner and has a blast. Erin, Brooke, Preston and I all went to high school together. Over the years we had somewhat lost touch, but have really enjoyed getting to know each other again, and their husbands. Erin and her husband, Matt, moved back from Odessa several months ago. It has been a lot of fun having Erin around again. Brooke and her husband Patrick live in Houston. They have come to town for several weeks this summer. They have a baby girl who will be turning one next month.

So dinner, needless to say, was entertaining with stories from the past. At one point my stomach hurt from laughing so hard. We have decided to start taking trips together. Our first venture as decided last night will be skiing. That should be fun! Preston and I will be with the instructors on the bunny slopes while everyone else is flying down the "blacks". That was a term I learned last night. We can't wait. Erin was the magnet my kids gravitated towards. They had so much fun taking pictures of each other. When everyone had left and I was looking through them all, I had over 100 pics which Will and Lauren had taken. Some were actually pretty good. You can tell the ones they took because for some reason they are fuzzy. Might have something to do with fingers covering the flash and lens.

Here's the gang!

Something was really funny here.

Phase 1: Complete

Okay..so not really. But I did make some headway. I (we; me and the kids) spent the night cleaning out closets, under beds and in drawers. I am happy to report 12 trashbags full will be donated tomorrow. There closets can actually be stepped in now. Go figure. I also went a step further and organized the media closet; alphabatized movies and dvd'. Here are some pics of proof.
Much more to do, maybe another day ;)

I also tackled Jacob's room, but I forgot to take pictures, I promise it was equally as profound if not more than Lauren's transformation. I also forgot to take pictures under the beds and in the drawers. They were just awful and since I was in the mood I went ahead and did a complete overhaul. Thanks BooMama.

Before and After Goals:

After thinking about it all night, I have decided I am going to start off small so I don't get overwhelmed. I will hopefully add to this list in the near future.

1. Paint console in office
2. Plant new front flower bed
3. Of course, clean out kids (and my) closets
4. Paint Lauren's bathroom floor (yes, I said paint)

I hope to tackle one if not two of these things this weekend. I will post pics after.
Wish me luck!

I'm Game!

BooMamaBeforeAfter

Okay so I got this idea from a friend's blog who read this from BooMama's blog. I have so many things I want to do over the summer, I don't think I can list them all. Even though we live in a brand new house, the list goes on and on. I'll make my list tonight (that's how bad I am, I don't even have a list yet) and will post tomorrow. Visit the blog and challenge yourself!

Will Loves Basketball!

I am not sure why a child of mine and Preston's would even remotely be interested in basketball, BUT.... Will absolutely loves it. We can't go through Sam's without going down the isle where the basketball goal is. He spots them everywhere we go and talks endlessly about them. He always wants to play. When he was in the hospital we made his little IV pump thing into a goal so he would be entertained. Anyways... here we are watching the playoff game and everytime it comes on he sits mesmerized talking to himself. I couldn't resist not taping him. He did get a little carried away though once he realized he was in the spotlight.

It's Been a While...

We just drove in from Oklahoma this evening. We had a FANTASTIC time. It was even worth the 10 and 1/2 hours in the car today coming home. We left last Friday and went to Preston's brother, Brian's, house to visit his new family. He had a baby boy if you remember the first of May. He was absolutely precious. We woke up Saturday and left Dallas around noon and were off to Tulsa. It wasn't so bad going up there since we broke it up in two days. I was able to read the last two books in my Redemption series. (I would highly recommend them.) We were at my mother-in-laws house by around 4:30ish. It was fun catching up with everyone since we haven't seen most of them since our last reunion last year at the coast. The real vacation started though when we drove another two hours to Grand Lake. We had a lake house right on the water with it's own dock so we could dock our boat there. We split our time between this lake house and Preston's aunt's lake house. We spent the next four days just enjoying the water. We had no time lines and no agenda to go by, just do what we wanted. It was great. Here are some pics from the week. I am so bad with pictures that I didn't get near enough, and looking back through them they are of no one except the kids.

Here are the kids at the lake. I promise Lauren really is enjoying herself. I'm not really sure why I always get the side of them :(

The boys having "tube wars". We could never convince Lauren to get on.

Jacob wake boarding.

We went to a part of the lake called Dripping Springs and it had these cliffs you could jump off. Everyone did it---well except me and Will of course. You'll have to look close though, I can't figure them out on some of the pics. (Maybe click on it and it will make it larger).

Here's Will sporting his brother's sunglasses.

The last day there back at Preston's mom's house it rained in the afternoon and while the big boys threw the football, Will decided to do other things with the ball ;) As you can see he was obviously the classiest child on the block running around barefoot with nothing on but a diaper and dirty t-shirt.

It was so much fun watching Will "discover" these puddles. I guess I've never let him play in the rain puddles before. I had to video it. If you listen carefully you can hear the pitter patter of his little feet. Hope you enjoy the short clip.

And that pretty much sums it all up. We now must get back into our normal routines. We had a great time and can't wait to do it again next year. Thanks everyone.

On a side note, tomorrow is Father's Day. I am very lucky to be the wife of the most fantastic father of all times. I am the daughter of a wonderful man who has taught me so much. I also have the privilege of having a most terrific man as my step-father. I AM BLESSED! Happy Father's Day to all of you dad's out there.
